Comment

On Fear Jabberwocky, my son!
He is so fierce and Dick,
And muffled rymit giant -
Zlopastny Brandashmyg!
(Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland," trans. DG Orel)

It is this "Jabberwocky" and is devoted to this conceptual opus duo keyboardists: the representative of another dynasty Wakeman - Oliver and replay in the mass of the neo-progressive groups Clive Nolan.

Oliver Wakeman - son of the great keyboardist Rick Wakeman and the same keyboard. His debut album "Heaven's Isle" was released in 1998 and was largely sustained in the manner of his father. His older brother Adam started his creative life, much earlier and has already recorded several albums, both with his father and separately.

father's influence is obvious and here, the keys are very similar to the recent creation of Rick Wakeman: generally quite affordable, but with a twist. Quite a few keyboard passages differ not only skill (this is in Wakeman, Yes and Nolan did not take away), but also beauty. The main difference from the works of Rick is in full use guitar sound. True Peter Banks did not particularly manifested itself, and indeed as part of Yes.

Another feature of the disk is to use the votes four vocalists. While pop songs like "Glimmer Of Light" performed by Tracy Hitchings clearly not benefited the general atmosphere of "Jabberwocky." Her voice is "breathy" does not correspond to the traditions of progressive rock. But the choral pieces have turned out very well and convey the epic nature of the music quite clearly.

very successfully used the voice of Wakeman, Sr., reading the original text of the Jabberwocky throughout the album. Here is how it speaks Oliver: "Father was invited to participate as a storyteller, not only because he has a great voice vote (I remember him telling us stories of Adam, when we were children), but also because we thought that would be great to bring the father to our work, but that he did not play the keyboards.

overall style myzyki "Jabberwocky" fits the definition of "neo-progressive." "Neo" because not too complex themes and arrangements. Some songs are sung to build and well suited to scroll through the radio (and I do not think it's worth the progressive rock). Although, in general, the disk was obviously better than I expected. It is possible that it would be nice to listen not only to lovers of neo.

For those few who have not read Lewis Carroll's brief to inform the story: a young knight in a thicket of dark wood kills the monster - Jabberwocky. This fact is vividly reflected in the magnificent cover of Rodney Mathews (Rodney Matthews). In general, the classic fantasy plot. And with the transfer of fantasy mood myzykanty coped well, the album got even more fabulous than the work itself Carroll. But since just as it is, the album is rather funny and sometimes majestic than gloomy.

Incidentally another interesting fact: the plot of "Jabberwocky" in England, directed by Terry Gilliam (A member of the famous comedian of Monthy Python) was filmed. Read more about this site "Films Terry Gilliam's" .

Long hours the real root he sought.
Then rested by the storage drums,

And as in tedious thought he sat,
The integral without a name,
Rose from a skewed, conformal map,
Diverging as it came!

Pi-e, Pi-e, and x, y, z,
The digital went clicky-clack.
He found the norm in series form,
And brought the work sheets back.

"Oh, hast thou solved the integral?
Here is a raise, my brainish boy!"
He threw his time cards in the air
And clapped his hands with joy.

Jabberwocky ala Newton

In case you've always wondered what Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky was about, read on. Well, one person named Robert McNally wrote it on his Newton computer. The Newton helpfully deciphered it as follows:

TABLESPOONS

Teas Willis, and the sticky tours
Did gym and Gibbs in the wake.
All mimes were the borrowers,
And the moderate Belgrade.

"Beware the tablespoon my son,
The teeth that bite, the Claus that catch.
Beware the Subjects bird, and shred
The serious Bandwidth!"

He took his Verbal sword in hand:
Long time the monitors fog he sought,
So rested he by the Tumbled tree,
And stood a while in thought.

And as in selfish thought he stood,
The tablespoon, with eyes of Flame,
Came stifling through the trigger wood,
And troubled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and though,
The Verbal blade went thicker shade.
He left it dead, and with its head,
He went gambling back.

"And host Thai slash the tablespoon?
Come to my arms my bearish boy.
Oh various day! Cartoon! Cathay!"
He charted in his joy.

Teas Willis, and the sticky tours
Did gym and Gibbs in the wake.
All mimes were the borrowers,
And the moderate Belgrade.

When his HOST-to-IMP began to limp
he stood a while in thought,

And while he stood, in uffish thought,
The ARPANET, with IMPish bent,
Sent packets through conditioned lines,
And checked them as they went,

One-two, one-two, and through and through
The IMP-to-IMP went ACK and NACK,
When the RFNM came, he said "I'm game",
And sent the answer back,

Then hast thou joined the ARPANET?
Oh come to me, my bankrupt boy!
Quick, call the NIC! Send RFCs!
He chortled in his joy.

Twas brillig, and the Protocols
Did USER-SERVER in the wabe.
All mimsey was the FTP,
And the RJE outgrabe.
